A successful candidate in this position will serve as a Security Specialist, providing expertise and recommendations to senior managers in all facets of physical, information, personnel, and technical security to identify security shortfalls; assess compliance with Departmental and national requirements; and plan activities to implement, monitor, and assess the various NNSA security programs.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-02 or GS-12. Specialized experience as:
Extensive experience developing, interpreting and implementing security policies; and managing security program duties in the following areas:
1. Self-Assessments
2. Inspections
3. Evaluations
Examples of Specialized Experience:
Experience leading or conducting inspections, surveillances, and surveys; performs technical analysis and performance testing, and evaluates security plans, practices, and procedures to evaluate and advise on safeguards and security programs and operations for the protection of national security information and assets.
Experience in the application of principles, procedures, concepts, and methodologies in in the field of security that is applied to security programs.
Experience with security program requirements to prepare a long-and short-range planning guidance in accordance with security program policies and objectives.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
