Boise VA Medical Center is filling a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor vacancy. The position is located in Boise, Idaho at the main VA hospital. The list generated from this announcement can be used up to 90 days to fill any additional vacancies that may arise.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinateworkers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.Other duties include: Develop action plans to address deficiencies intraining, performance, and productivity. Plans projects in a manner that ensures that they are properly coordinated with other FMS units and any Medical Center program that they impact. Analyzes employee work performance, conduct, and productivity; communicates daily observations; challenges unusual situations; and conducts performance appraisals effectively to subordinates. Carries out day to day functions independently, keeping the Chief/Assistant Chief Environmental Management Service advised of special problems and unique situations. Assures subordinates time is effectively used, to include managing the workload within resource and manpower available. Develops implements the daily, weekly, and cyclic cleaning plans for the unit. Evaluates the capability of the unit; compensates for staffing fluctuations that result from vacancies, vacation schedules, lost work time due to injury, training, sick leave, etc.; and assigns coverage accordingly to meet established priorities. Assures effective utilization of all equipment assigned. Manages an effective training program for supervised staff and encourages staff members to understand their own responsibility for self- development. Administers annual competencies and sanitation procedures to all supervised staff and provide any needed training as identified. Monitors and enforces subordinate's adherence to safety and conduct rules, policies and for regulations coordinates assists, or completes appropriate accident report documents. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/30/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
