You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the Crane and Equipment Operations Branch, Lifting and Handling Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will safely operate truck-trailers, straddle trucks, stake trucks, fuel tankers, lighter or heavier vehicles of more than 32,000 lbs for hauling material, equipment and/or personnel. You may also operate forklifts up to 27.5 ton capacity. You will couple or uncouple the ruck tractor and semi-trailer or truck and trailer, and connect/disconnect the air breaks and electrical lines. You will direct the arranging of cargo/load to ensure the cargo is secured to prevent shifting or falling while in transit. You will select/use the safest, most direct and legally allowed route and identify alternate routes in case of emergency. You will perform pre-operational check of assigned vehicle; report any defects, accidents, damages or traffic violations; keep mileage records and responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle. You may be required to transport nuclear waste containers, liquid waste tanks, and other radioactive material.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid Hawaii state commercial driver’s license (CDL), type A with endorsement X.
  • You may be required to lift and carry weights up to 50lbs.

Qualifications
