This position is located in the Tongass National Forest. The incumbent serves as the Integrated Resources staff assistant to the District Ranger with responsibilities for planning/development, programming, implementation and administration of multiple resources to include fisheries, wildlife, subsistence, hydrology, soils, timber, silviculture and botany/invasive programs.

Duties
Coordinates multiples resource uses, activities and requirements with other resource management activities.
Develops, implements, and administers the fisheries, wildlife and subsistence program and plans.
Administers the soils and water resource management program. Directs the implementation of watershed restoration plans.
Assists in the development and integration of the botany/invasive program.
Develops the annual program of work determining budgeting, administrative and staffing needs.
Reviews environmental documents for each program where applicable.
Plans the work to be accomplished by the unit, assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the unit’s work.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
GS-0401:
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
-OR-
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.
Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is described as 3 or more of the following: Participated in the development, administration and execution of annual work plans for natural resources in compliance with agency guidelines and direction; and/or performed standard analyses of resource or environmental data using established methods and procedures; and/or provided advice on conventional and routine natural resource management issues and projects; and/or exercised independent judgment to perform recurring, well-defined, and moderately difficult natural resource duties; conducted routine environmental studies and evaluations linking a variety of resources such as: social economics, land, air, water, timber, recreation, wildlife, fisheries, and/or special management areas.
-OR-
3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a biological or natural resource management program of study.
-OR-
A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e. more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.) described above that together meets the requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
