About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command (Theater), 21st Signal Brigade, 302ND Signal Battalion, US Army Signal Activity with a duty location of Camp Roberts, CA.

Duties

Serves as the Security Specialist responsible for the development, implementation, execution, and management of a multi-discipline security program. Serves as the Physical Security Officer responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and implementing an appropriate physical security/crime prevention program. Consults with other security specialists to develop protection systems that provide maximum protection without any major interference within the organization mission. Supports monitoring the Information Security Program through development of instructions, policy, procedures, program reviews, and inspections. Processes requests for clearance/access, changes to position sensitivity designation, and investigation, and applies adjudicative process as part of administering the personnel security program. Serves as Director, Emergency Services with oversight of Department of the Army Police Force.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET clearance based on a T5 background investigation with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience with Physical Security (PHYSEC); AND Experience overseeing and/or managing a police force/department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
