These positions are located in the Region 4 on the Bridger-Teton, Dixie, Fishlake, Manti LaSal, and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forests at various duty locations within each forest.
Incumbent is responsible for assisting a higher-graded Fleet Specialists in managing the fleet program of the Forest.

Duties
Responsibilities listed are reflected at the full performance level, GS-09.
Assist Fleet manager by providing advice and information to managers and supervisors on procedures and policies related to Fleet management.
Provide applicable guidance and information on practices, procedures, and policies related to routine Fleet Management Program Operations.
Complete routine analysis such as utilization of fleet and equipment, and analysis on problems with equipment and recommends solutions. Create reports or summaries of fleet utilization studies when requested.
Document, analyze, and provide recommendations to resolve technical problems that have occurred during the use period of vehicles and equipment.

Make small purchases locally, utilizing proper purchasing procedure.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

Qualifications

General Experience for GS-5:
Applicant must have three years of general experience with one year of that experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. General experience is defined as experience that provided a general knowledge and understanding of traffic or transportation programs or operations.
OR
EDUCATION: Completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a major study including accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
Specialized Experience Requirement For The GS-07:
Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as meeting at least two of the following: Provided assistance with planning, coordinating and gathering data needed for contract preparation and procurement; Entered data into databases and monitored database report for consistency and errors; Assisted in monitoring and recommending vehicle and equipment readiness and repairs; Assisted in advising managers, supervisors, and employees on paperwork requirements; and/or Applies procedures and policies related to routine Fleet Management Program operations.

EDUCATION: Completed one full academic year of graduate-level education in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position. OR
Superior Academic Achievement (go to this site determine if you are eligible: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Specialized Experience Requirement For The GS-09:
Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as meeting at least three of the following: Monitored and recommended vehicle and equipment readiness and repairs; Provided technical guidance on transportation services, equipment operations, maintenance and repairs; Analyzed utilization of fleet equipment and created reports or summaries of studies; Has knowledge of Forest Service Fleet Management programs which include procurement, operations, maintenance and disposal of vehicles; Assists with documenting, analyzing, and providing recommendations to resolve technical problems that have occurred during the use period of vehicles and equipment; Responsible for gathering data needed for contract preparation; Communicates with vendors, employees, outside agencies on maintenance and operations requirements.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; education must have major field of study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.
