This position serves the National Trails Office for the Park Service. There is 1 vacancy in the following locations: San Francisco, California Kansas City, Missouri Santa Fe, New Mexico Salt Lake City, Utah This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.

Duties

Major duties of this position include: Design and Develop Interpretive Materials: Uses computer-based graphics and media design software applications, principles of media design for development of waysides, visitor center exhibits, newsletters, and websites. Project Development and Coordination: Works with partners to create all facets of project proposals including scope of work descriptions and request vendor quotes, manages funded interpretive media projects while monitoring partner and contractor performance to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Digital Content Creation: Independently develop content for a wide variety of web pages and other digital platforms or channels, tailoring content to medium, using appropriate techniques and modifying established practices and prescribed procedures and Section 508 requirements as needed. Social Media Administration: Serve as the primary administrator of one or more social media accounts for the organization assigned. Digital Platforms Authoring: Coordinate the uploading, editing, and updating of content to existing platforms.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/16/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: interpreting resources to convey significance; connect visitors to information shared, facilitate shared learning; support learning objectives to meet education and community needs; inform the public of important safety topics and support management of natural and cultural resources. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the occupation. Major study -- natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, divide your number of credit hours in excess of 36 semester hours (or 54 quarter hours) by 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours), or the number your school uses to represent one year of full time graduate academic study. To calculate your percentage of experience, divide your months of qualifying specialized experience by 12. Add the two percentages. They must equal at least 100% to qualify using this option. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
