This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations, Office of the Facility Manager, Supreme Court Buildings and Grounds.  This is a developmental position in which the selectee performs progressively more complex duties and responsibilities on a gradual basis leading to the full performance level of GS-11. Developmental assignments will be given with the goal of attaining the full performance level.     

Duties

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations, Office of the Facility Manager, Supreme Court Buildings and Grounds. The AOC has the responsibility to the Judicial Branch for the structural and mechanical care of the Supreme Court Building and Grounds, to ensure the safety and security of the Justices, Court personnel, and visitors, and to make improvements to the existing facility and grounds.

To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.Qualifying on Experience: Candidates for the GS-8 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower GS-7 grade level in the Federal service.    Specialized experience for this position includes: (1) Conducting surveys of existing facilities and ongoing construction activities, evaluating design and engineering products; (2) Experience with CADD systems to manage measured items and ensure currency of databases; (3) Experience analyzing, interpreting and integrating information/data gathered into a variety of formats such as graphs, tables, databases, and spreadsheets; and (4) Experience as effective communicator with the ability to coordinate with internal and external staff at various levels through written and oral means.ORQualifying on Education: You have a two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master’s degree in engineering, architecture or field of study related to the position.OR You have a combination of specialized experience at less than one year and more than one year but less than two of the type of education described above.
