Duties
Applies innovative techniques and seasoned judgment to assist management in identifying areas where IT systems can reduce or eliminate labor and time intensive manual processes.
Analyzes and diagnoses system failures to isolate source of problems.
Performs testing, troubleshoots, and corrects complex or unusual problems involving interface and interoperability of system components such as hardware, systems software, and applications programs.
Initiates the installation and configuration of applications software and the establishment of user environments.
Identifies corrective or preventative procedures and takes actions to rectify immediate problems and prevent future occurrences.
Recommends and develops proposals to enhance operational use of systems hardware and software and keeps abreast of technological advances to ensure continued optimum service.
Serves as advisor to lower-graded specialists engaged in similar responsibilities.
Prepares and coordinates project authorization documents, operational benefit statements, cost comparisons of alternatives, status reports, requirements documentation, risk analyses and other technical documentation.
Develops and conducts formal briefings for senior officials.
Represents the office in meetings and conferences with technical counterparts from other organizations within Army, other government agencies, and professional groups as management directs.
Coordinates with management and other IT specialists to identify and correct unusual or unprecedented problems and providing innovative approaches to solving them.
Participates as a member and advisor on special committees and special projects designed to study methods to enhance the use of information technology throughout the installation.
Maintains liaison with manufacturers, professional organizations, and counterparts at other installations and services regarding available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is Non-Critical Sensitive, and incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance based on a Tier 3 Background Investigation. Failure to do so may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal Service.
- Information Assurance (IA) Certification/Training Requirements: This position is designated as (IAT Level II, IT Level I) and requires a CompTIA Security+ certification at a minimum.
- Employee is required to complete the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Pub 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 Dec 2005 (incorporating Ch 1, 15 May 08).
- Certification/recertification must be obtained within nine months of appointment and maintained for continued employment.
- This position requires a computing environment certification or training in Microsoft Azure Administrator and/or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. Incumbent is required to complete this certification or training within nine months.
- Overtime and on-call duty may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- May be subject to callback requirement to report to duty within 2 hours of notification due to mission requirements.
- TDY up to 10% may be required. Government regulations will be followed for all official travel.
- May be required to perform 24 x 7 shift work in support of operational IT related mission/after duty hours on call/emergency requirements.

Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe the following quality experience:
Analyzing threats to a network to make timely and accurate assessments; providing operational guidance for the production of network and equipment outage reports; administering and managing operating systems and services (for example Windows, Linux, Windows Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 Services); and collaborating with internal and external customers to identify effective strategies to improve outcomes.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
