You will serve as a Senior Contract Specialist in the CONTRACTING DIVISION, PRODUCT/FUNCTIONS DEPARTMENT of CARDEROCK DIV NS.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10.

Duties
You will serve as a Senior Contract Specialist for acquisitions assigned to members of the incumbent's team.
You will be assigned the most complex, time sensitive, high-visibility and/or high priority for the command, and high dollar value procurement actions.
You will complete the vast majority of work assigned independently with little to no revisions, and requires limited attention and support from Team Lead and/or Supervisor.
You will serve as a senior advisor to members within the Branch and Division, and is also supports Department and Command-wide requirements as needed.
You will resolve higher priority conflicts that arise, coordinates work assignments with other contract specialists, and interprets contracting policy that may not have established objectives.
You will be required to be extremely well practiced and competent in a diverse set of contracting and compliance matters.
Requirements

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You live or work within the commute area of the duty location(s) listed for this position.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing professional contracting functions, administration or planning for the acquisition or procurement of equipment, supplies, or services in support of acquisition programs.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirement of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Contracting Positions:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
NOTE: The education requirement listed above applies only to individuals entering DoD GS-1102 positions on or after October 1, 2000. Current civilian personnel in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from meeting this requirement. Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent) 1102 or before September 30, 2000 are also exempt from meeting this requirement.
