This position is located at the Crow Service Unit, Division of Nursing Services, Outpatient Branch, Lodge Grass, Montana. The purpose of this position is to manage the appointment system, serve as receptionist, and assist with clerical duties to provide efficient services to clients, visitors, and other healthcare providers.

Duties

Maintain an appointment system and organize appointments to accurately reflect routine clinics, specialty clinics and medical provider schedules Initiates corrective action to reschedule appointment and notifies patient when there is a change in provider schedule or cancellation for urgent or emergent situations. Transcribe physician orders pertaining to diagnostic tests, keep patient records in order with all forms properly identified; copies and compile other data as directed. Perform clerical duties including typing, filing, operating computers and computerized systems.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): General Schedule Qualification Standards In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: One (1) year of general experience OR, successfully completed two (2) years of education above the high school level. GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level OR four (4) years above the high school level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples of specialized experience at the GS-05 level: Serve as receptionist for the Outpatient Department, answer the telephones, direct or transfer calls to the appropriate personnel and take messages as indicated. Greet or assist patients, families and or visitors courteously. Perform routine office procedures to co-ordinate a wide range of clerical practices (including filing systems, typing reports, appointment scheduling, etc.) OR, successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
