The incumbent performs work in support of the unit's recreation program, with responsibility for operating and maintaining the zone's developed recreation and cabin facilities: two campgrounds, three day-use areas with reservable shelters, and 11 remote public-use cabins.

Duties
The responsibilities listed below are at the full performance level GS-08.
Provide technical input on observed forest impact from recreation program use.
Work with Budget and Finance and Resource clerk in carrying out correct business management procedures related to outfitting and guiding permits.
Perform duties of Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and inspector on trails contracts.
Foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of the organization.
Write work programs for the maintenance and operation of developed recreation facilities.
Participate in the development of annual work programs for administering the operation and maintenance of developed recreation facilities, reservable cabins, trailheads, and special use permits for outfitters and guides.
Order materials and supplies needed to maintain developed recreation facilities and cabins for recreation use.
This position will collaborate with a recreation / trail planner to implement both annual and long-term work plans for recreation sites.
Performs supervision 20% of the time or less.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-07 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent private sector experience. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: Served as the point of contact with community organizations and interest groups to generate utilization of forest recreation facilities; Assisted in the development of plans for recreation area maintenance, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction projects in accordance with program management objectives and policies; Served as an inspector and/or contracting officer's representative on service contracts insuring work is completed properly; AND/OR Consulted in review of Special Use Permit administration for activities within undeveloped and developed areas of the unit.

One full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as Forestry, Range Management, Recreation, or Agriculture);

Combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
For the GS-08 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent private sector experience. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: Participated in the development of plans for recreation area maintenance, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction projects; Provided liaison with community organizations and interest groups to stimulate interest in and utilization of forest recreation facilities; Developed long-range plans for managing recreation resources within management developed and dispersed recreation sites on the unit; Assisted in conducting compliance reviews for special use permits;Initiated and/or maintained partnerships to accomplish and support recreation programs and facilities; AND/OR Inspected applicable construction projects to determine if changes are needed or other action is necessary.

Combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position (in excess of 18 semester/27 quarter hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
