This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a High Voltage Electrician with responsibility to plan, lay out, install, modify, test, maintain and repair.

Duties
Operate equipment such as trucks with aerial boom or aerial platform/ladder; earth auger with pole grabber boom to dig hole for poles; back-hoe to dig trenching lines; forklift; and dump truck. Inspect installation performed by contract personnel.
Providing information to and assisting in bypassing systems or locating underground lines.
Installing poles, cross arms, transformers, transformer racks and hangers, insulators, breakers, fuses, conductors, switch gears, cable, conduit, wire, etc.
Install, repair, maintain and troubleshoot various types of exterior lighting and signal equipment such as airfield lighting and controls,high bay lighting, traffic signals, etc.
Requirements

- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state class (CDL) B commercial driver's license and is insurable prior to appointment.
- Maybe required to respond to air-related emergency situations and airfield lighting systems outage on a 24-hour a day/7 days per week basis.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) High Voltage Electrician (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision. Must be able to perform High Voltage Electrician tasks as part of an electrical team or line crew to perform installation, maintenance and repairs on electric power control equipment, fixtures, hardware's, distribution lines, traffic light controls or electric- generating equipment, must have knowledge of National Electric Code and other guidance - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
· PHYSICAL EFFORT: Lifts, pulls and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier; climbs ladders and poles; works in
high places, and in awkward and strained positions, sometimes for prolonged periods.
· WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside, subject to extreme weather conditions. Works on energized and de-energized high voltage
lines and equipment. Works underground and above ground on poles or from aerial bucket trucks; in trenches and manholes. Subject
to serious electrical shock, cuts and bruises. Is exposed to Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB). Uses safety equipment such as fiberglass
gear, rubber gloves, hot sticks, etc.
