Duties
As a Passport Specialist you will:
Manage the U.S. Official and Diplomatic passports program for CDC.
Serve as the principal technical authority on matters concerning visa/passport services to CDC international travelers.
Accept, examine, adjudicate and authorize the documentation of citizenship.
Serve as the CDC liaison with foreign embassies accredited to the United States for matters concerning the visa applications of CDC international travelers.
Serve as the CDC Cable Clearance Coordinator and lead person for contacts with U.S. Embassy Clearance Officers and State Department staff in matters concerning the provision or denial of clearances.
Analyze and evaluate cable communications for State Department concurrence and to resolve problems and recommend courses of action.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-9 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level, which must include the following experience: receiving and examining passport and visa applications to determine eligibility.
OR
Have completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D, if related.
OR
Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This is a Temporary Appointment Not-to-Exceed One (1) year. At management's discretion, may be extended up to 5 years and/or made permanent without further competition.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
