About the Position: Serves as an Administrative Support Specialist within the directorate, aids the director, division chiefs, supervisors, and staff via extensive knowledge and understanding of the organization, its methods, funds, people, and other management tools.
Duties
Provides guidance based on experience and understanding of the administrative field and comprehensive knowledge of directorate organization, mission, objectives, and functional operation.
Recommends required modifications and improvements that assure more efficient operation.
Responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the Directorate.
Establishes priorities for appointments based on importance, timelines of the subject to be discussed and priorities with individuals concerned in cases of apparent overlap/conflict.
Gathers information and puts in appropriate format for the director’s use in decision making.
Utilizes software and systems such as Defense Travel System (DTS), and the Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Business travel is required 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or specialized experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing administrative support to prepare and submit correspondences for approval utilizing Office 365 software; 2) Providing advisory services to staff on organizational policies and procedures; 3) Maintaining appointment calendars of superiors; 4) Familiar with automated travel systems; AND inputting time in automated timekeeping systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
