Duties

Performs electric, oxyacetylene, plasma-arc, and inert gas shielded welding, i.e. MIG/TIG in manufacturing, repairing, modifying, rebuilding and assembling various types of metal and alloy parts, equipment, systems and structures such as trucks, trailers, hand railing and gates.
Determines proper method of repair, develops less complex templates, jigs and dies, selects and sets up jigs, fixtures and equipment, sets up and assembles parts to be welded, selects type and size of rod, size of tip and proper heat range necessary to weld, cut, bend, and shape a variety of metals such as aluminum, cast iron, cast steel magnesium, mild steel and stainless steel. Makes welds in flat, horizontal, vertical positions normally and infrequently in overhead positions.
Installs new parts and applies required welds following guidelines such as resistance welding control charts, specifications, accepted shop practices, and oral and written instructions from supervisor.
Operates up to 1 ton pick-ups to haul personnel and supplies from duty station to various worksites. May utilize vehicles to transport self and others to various vendors to haul materials, supplies and equipment. Will be operating these vehicles on city streets, park roads (paved and unpaved) and steep terrain within the park.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to provide production support services (SCREEN OUT)
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Use of measuring instruments
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of metals
