About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
This position is with the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade located in Fort Irwin, California.
Duties
Develops, staffs, manages and assesses implementation of Information Assurance plans.
Ensures that an adequately trained information systems security infrastructure exists to effectively implement information assurance policies and requirements.
Review threat and vulnerability assessments to analyze the risk to the Information Systems and networks and determine appropriate measures to effectively manage those risks.
Participates in meetings, conferences and work groups addressing IA issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain eligibility for a T3 Secret Clearance. Failure to obtain and/or maintain requirements IAW publication listed are grounds for termination.
- The employee may be recalled to duty and may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- TDY up to 10% may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain updated certifications per DOD Directive 8570.1-M AR 25-2 and DoD Directive 8140.01 and as detailed in the Cyber Security (IA) Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP)
- at the IAM-II level within 6 months. Failure to comply, IAW publications listed are grounds for termination.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one-year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: Developing and managing Information Assurance plans; Ensuring security violations and incidents are reported appropriately; Maintaining databases on training and certification for Information Assurance; Implementing and maintaining a Risk Management Framework; Preparing budget reports.

(4) Problem Solving

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.
