The duty stations for the parks are: Olympic National Park: Port Angeles, Clearwater, Hoodsport, Amanda Park, Forks, Clallam Bay, WA Yosemite National Park: Yosemite, CA Golden Gate NRA: San Francisco, CA and Marin County CA Manzanar NRA: Independance CA Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park: Tulare County CA John Day Fossil Beds NM: Kimberly OR San Juan Island National Historical Park: Friday Harbor WA Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve: Coupeville WA Great Basin NP: Baker, NV Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area: Coulee Dam, Wilbur, Davenport and Kettle Falls, WA Oregon Caves NM: Cave Junction, OR Lassen Volcanic NP: Manzanita Lake CA, Mineral CA Channel Islands National Park: Ventura CA Mount Rainier National Park: Longmire, Packwood, WA Lewis and Clark National NHP: Astoria OR Devils Postpile NM: Mammoth Lakes CA Whiskeytown National Recreation Area: Whiskeytown CA San Francisco Maritime NHP: San Francisco North Cascades National Park: Marblemount, Stehekin, WA The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Utilize a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds. Perform minor plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures. Perform minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Construct, install, repair and replace such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Perform routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed. Receive, unload and process incoming shipments according to established procedures, and report discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. May perform other duties such as painting equipment, masonry work, roofing, welding or assisting higher grade worker with maintenance of utility systems in the facility. Operate a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites. Physical Demands: Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weight up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.

Applicants must be physically fit and, as required in the Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Handbook X-118C, must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the job elements listed below to perform the duties of the position at the level for which they are applying. A specific length of time and experience is not required. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. You must meet the 2-point level on the screen out factor/element and an average of level 2 on all factors/elements listed. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Use of Measuring Equipment. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading). Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment. Knowledge of Materials.
