Duties
As a Nurse Educator you will:
Serve as an advisor to the Continuing Education Accreditation Team (CEAT), Education and Training Services Branch, in formulating appropriate strategies, program planning, and policy formulation for continuing education (CE) trainings throughout CDC.
Serve as a trainer in continuing education accreditation, providing orientation, and workshops on continuing nursing education, providing nursing accreditation updates, strategies to increase compliance, and resolving programmatic and policy issues.
Revise and develop written and audiovisual teaching materials, including information provided using latest technology (e.g., web based, CD-ROM), for dissemination.
Modify course designs and assess alternative instructional methodologies for training specific audiences (e.g., project areas, managed care organizations, private and public provider networks, medical and nursing schools)
Assist in the reporting of all CE data for CDC and CDC partners in continuing education to all applicable national accreditation organizations.

Basic Qualifications: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (https://www.aacnnursing.org/CCNE), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(https://www.coacrna.org/), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(https://www.midwife.org/accreditation), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (https://www.cgfns.org/) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Additional Basic Qualifications: Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (https://www.ncsbn.org/nclex.htm). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing guidance, direction and leadership in development and design of continuing education products for the public health workforce.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
