Duties
Prepares biomedical research-support art files from multiple source applications including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, for production, exhibiting a mastery with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Accurately scopes projects and coordinates assets and critical tasks, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities and/or campaigns.
Advises on the technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction, suggesting those that will best meet the information objectives of each project.
Manually assembles, cuts, mounts, collates, and produces products such as framed scientific imagery, photography, certificates, brochures, booklets, scientific posters, and scientific conference meeting materials.
Operates and troubleshoots imaging software, hardware, and machinery including large-format printers, high-resolution photo printers, large-volume digital printers, heat/cold mount machine, laminator, and paper-cutter.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-9 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Participating in creating concepts, developing designs, writing specifications, producing biomedical research graphic and signage artwork and products; assisting in preparing biomedical research support art files from multiple source applications including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, for production, with specific focus on Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; operating and assisting in troubleshooting imagining software, hardware, and machinery including large-format printers, high resolution photo printers, large-volume digital printers, heat/cold mount machine, laminator, and paper-cutter; and assembling, cutting, mounting, collating, and producing products such as framed scientific imagery, photography, certificates, brochures, booklets, scientific posters, and scientific conference meeting materials such as binders, nametags, and meeting signage.
OR
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., with major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
You qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Preparing biomedical research support art files from multiple source applications including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, for production, with specific focus on Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; operating and troubleshooting imagining software, hardware, and machinery including large-format printers, high resolution photo printers, large-volume digital, heat/cold mount machine, laminator, and paper-cutters; planning original visual treatments for biomedical research printed publications or exhibits, or the visual aspects of oral presentations; and advising on the technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, and methods of preproduction, suggesting those that will best meet the information objectives of each biomedical research communication project.
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Creating concepts, developing designs, writing specifications, and producing biomedical research communication graphic and signature artwork and products. Writing scopes of work and project schedules for biomedical research visual information projects; preparing biomedical research support art files from multiple source applications including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, for production, with specific focus on Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; planning original visual treatments for printed publications or exhibits, or the visual aspects of oral presentations; advising on the technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction, suggesting those that will best meet the biomedical information objectives of each project; and making detailed plans to accomplish biomedical visual information goals and directing the integration of technical activities and/or campaigns.
