About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Intelligence Task Force South, Intelligence & Security Directorate, Security Division, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL.

Duties

Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, control systems and methods to prevent the compromise or loss of classified information or material. Assists in conducting oversight/compliance inspections to assure adequate information security controls are in place. Under supervision, prepares and disseminates local information security guidance as determined from higher level directives and regulations. Assists in the development and administration of security awareness training programs. Assists in the administration of the program for the continuous security evaluation of personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • In order to perform the duties of this position incumbent must be eligible for, receive, and retain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
  • Must perform temporary duty (TDY) travel 25% or less of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience to the next lower grade (GS/GG-07) which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes administering established Information and Personnel security programs, processing security investigations and making recommendations based on security policies and regulations. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management, Security Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
