Duties

You will analyze information technology (IT) systems security integration, testing, operations, and maintenance activities at the systems or network level to ensure compliance with systems security requirements. You will evaluate data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools to analyze incidents and events for a major wide area network in order to mitigate threats. You will Interpret data from a variety of cyber defense tools, such as applications logs, operating system logs, server records, intrusion detection system (IDS) alerts, firewalls, network traffic logs, etc.

Requirements

  • Testing Designated Position (TDP). Employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subsequent periodic drug screening thereafter.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is not telework eligible.
  • The incumbent may be required to perform occasional travel (25% or less), which may involve commercial and/or government aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Must possess a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance and must obtain and maintain NSA badging for NIPR/SIPR/NSANet accounts. Failure to possess and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Must pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 461 and 511, proficiency level ADVANCED the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include Overseeing and maintaining regulatory requirements and revieing changes for security implications and security applications. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing support and assisting in the analysis of incidents and events at the application or server/device level in order to mitigate threats. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing informal feedback and periodically evaluate employee performance 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Isolating and removing malware In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you are required to have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Developing, analyzing, and defining information technology (IT) systems security integration, testing, operations, and maintenance requirements for new enterprise applications and systems. This position is within the Work Category SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-2210-13.
