About the Position: The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert within the G-3/5/7 Current Operations (CUOPS) Planning Division in the US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). The incumbent is responsible for supporting operational planning efforts, participating in weekly meetings, conducting mission analysis, assisting in the preparation of briefings, and preparing operations orders and plans.
Duties
Collaborate with multiple staffing elements to develop operational plans for current and future joint operational support.
Reviews recruiting operations requirements to make recommendations regarding appropriate courses of action.
Participates in the development of a comprehensive and integrated strategy for current operations and future planning.
Serve as staff action officer by tracking actions related to the future and ongoing planning of operational activities.
Recommend appropriate courses of action to ensure stated operational objectives are met.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty Travel may be required up to 10% of the time for this position.
- Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Overtime may be required on short notice for this position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing strategic planning techniques to assist in the develop of operations plan or operations orders (i.e., OPORDS); examining existing operational procedures to identify operational requirements; maintaining situational awareness of all ongoing operations, exercises, or contingencies within the specified area of responsibility; and collecting data to prepare briefings.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
