Duties
Hohenwald, Tennessee - Oversees the daily maintenance and operations of TWO districts in Tennessee. The Meriwether Lewis district and the Leipers Fork District.
The Hohenwald, Tennessee maintenance facility is located at Mile Post 385 of the Natchez Trace Parkway and the Leipers Fork maintenance facility is located at Mile Post 428.
Supervise the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the assigned district(s) which consist of skilled and diverse workforce of approximately 10 to 15 permanent and seasonal employees per district. The incumbent will provide direct supervision and oversight, including work prioritization, to ensure objects are met.
Recruits and recommends selection of employees. Executes established work plans; establishes work schedules and priorities. Recommends promotions and other personnel actions. Approves leave, sets performance standards and evaluates and awards outstanding performance. Identifies training needs and training opportunities. Resolves complaints or minor grievances and advises employees on matters related to less than satisfactory performance. Actively supports EEO programs and communicates this support to subordinates.
This is a working supervisory position so as necessary; the incumbent will personally perform non-supervisory work such as heavy equipment operation, mowing, carpentry, minor electrical and plumbing, etc., and coordinate equipment repair.
This position oversees the year-round operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
Most facilities are used on a year-round basis and include roads, trails, bridges, drainage structures, recreational and interpretive sites, signs and exhibits, buildings, and utility systems.
Each district have a complex mowing and landscape program for which the incumbent is responsible for.
This position will be a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on service contracts for their assigned districts. The incumbent could be called on to assist the Chief of Maintenance, Project Manager, or Landscape Architect on other projects associated with construction, repair, rehabilitation, and restoration of buildings, utility systems, trails, and landscape.
The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of their annual budget, including purchasing for both the Natchez and Port Gibson districts.
Ensures a safe work environment by eliminating at risk behaviors and environments and enforce regulatory policies and mandates.
Coordinates and responds to after-hours emergency callouts during storm events.
Incumbent ensures the proper use and tracking of personal property.
Oversees fleet and equipment management. Provides monthly fleet utilization to the park Fleet Manager.
Manages all assigned administrative duties ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
Ensures accurate asset management reporting across both districts.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS Continued: You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists. Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
