The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) is responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct by Department attorneys that relate to the exercise of their authority to investigate, litigate, or provide legal advice and Department law enforcement personnel when they are related to allegations of misconduct by attorneys within the office's jurisdiction. OPR also reviews and investigates whistleblower complaints made by personnel employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

This position is responsible for providing a variety of non-routine legal administrative support to a team of attorneys and other staff.
Conducts extensive legal research using automated legal reference systems, case reviews, document reviews, or other pertinent sources to provide factual information to attorneys.
Maintains and determines document management procedures for tracking, safeguarding, and processing incoming and outgoing paper and electronic documents.
Applies the Department of Justice's and the Office of Professional Responsibility's records management standards for storing, retrieving, archiving, and disposing of records.
Uploads case related information in automated case management and documents management systems.
Coordinates support services for investigations such as scheduling meetings, securing court reporters, preparing exhibits, reviewing interview transcripts, and arranging travel.
Prepares and edits letters, memoranda, reports, and other legal documents that are voluminous and complex in format.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on or after 12/31/1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Legal Administrative Specialist at (GS-0901-9/11), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF-50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
For the GS-09
Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: utilizing office automation software applications to produce legal documents or materials; providing administrative support to a team of attorneys; and assisting with legal research or discovery.
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
For the GS-11
Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: reviewing or verifying legal or factual citations; implementing internal office workflow processes to ensure review or approval of documents; and performing searches of legal records, documents, references, or historical material.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
