This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain DoD Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Provide maintenance support of the Patriot Guided Missile Air Defense System. Perform systematic trouble analysis to isolate malfunctions in the entire integrated electronics of the Patriot system. Modify, update, and repair Patriot system according to DA modification work order (MWO) specifications

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Must obtain or possess and maintain a valid driver's license to operate government/military equipment.
  • Position requires heavy lifting 40-50 pounds.
  • Position requires physical.
  • Position requires one-year probationary period.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the integrated electronics of the Patriot Guided Missile Air Defense System. Skill in preventive maintenance theory and troubleshooting procedures, understand microprocessor, digital and binary theories and circuitry. Ablity to analyze faults and understand how to use digital voltmeters, dual trace oscilloscopes, monitoring devices, frequency analyzers, and signal generators. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work requires frequent lifting of items weighing 40-50 pounds. Occasionally lifts items weighing up 75 pounds with assistance. Employee is expected to stoop, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time and may sometimes be required to work in cramped and closed quarters. Continuous physical effort is required while working on equipment and involves lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing onto equipment. Work involves focusing vision to within five inches of eyes. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Indoor work is performed in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Outdoor work is performed in inclement weather, desert heat, and dust storms. Employee is exposed to dirt, grease, exhaust fumes and high/low frequency noise. Exposed to cuts and bruises; electrical burns and shock from high voltage; falling or dropped objects; soldering irons; and radiation and/or microwave frequency energy. Must wear safety and protective gear such as hearing protectors, respirators, safety goggles/glasses, etc.
