You will serve as a JUNIOR EDITORIAL SPECIALIST (GG-07) and/or EDITORIAL SPECIALIST (GG-09) responsible for editing a variety of written products, ensuring proper grammar, organization, classification, in accordance with the Department's style at the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity in the HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Duties
You will assist in managing the flow and direction of written work.
You will communicate with coworkers and authors on department writing standards.
You will read and interpret guidance to ensure requirements for written documents are met.
You will receive, sort, log, and determine flow of written products.
You will track, answer question, save/move products into various computer shared drives.
You will edit written products for grammar, context, and sentence structure.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
- This position may require a 2-Year DCIPS trial period requirement.
Qualifications
GG-07
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following such as: 1) Proofread written products and assembles the text, references, tables, and graphics into a final written product; 2) Assist editing staff in tracking assigned products to ensure deadlines are met; and 3) Prepare products for quality control review prior to publication.
OR
4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree
OR
1 full academic year of graduate education
GG-09
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following such as: 1) Interpret and apply guidance and directives to ensure requirements for written documents are met; 2) Interact, communicate, and coordinate with other branch editors, authors, and/or supervisor to clarify requirements; and 3) Apply sound understanding of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to correct errors in draft material.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

LL.B. or J.D., if related
