Duties

You will provide classroom studies and instruction on practical use of law enforcement equipment and techniques. You will ensure that all law enforcement personnel are in compliance with agency standards and policies governing employee proficiency in the use and maintenance of assigned firearms. You will prepare course material for NSF training objectives. You will determine the most effective ways and means of teaching course curriculum.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property 2. Teaching course curriculum in specialized and technical instructional areas related to Navy Security Forces (NSF) training objectives 3. Coordinating with other instructors to maintain and develop course material ensuring improvements to teaching methods are continuously made (NOTE: Your answer must be supported by information in your resume) Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Police Series 0083 Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
