Duties
At the GS-07 level you will perform developmental duties, as assigned.
At the Full Performance Level (GS-09) you will perform the duties listed below:
You will support the management of the collection and the facility, including records management, correspondence preparation, processing incoming/outgoing communications, and maintenance of hand receipts.
You will serve as the primary assistant to the Director in the formulation of the budget for future projects.
You will conduct inventories of museum collections, materials, weapons, and keys.
You will develop historical presentation materials and web content.
You will review the condition and content of existing displays and initiate updates and repairs.
You will develop and present tours to visitors and groups.
You will coordinate and prepare public relations materials as the need arises and to support historical understanding and public awareness.
You will maintain a press kit; update museum listings in national and regional travel guides; maintain an electronic file of photographs; maintain a list of media contacts; prepare press releases; other public information activities.
You will monitor the general maintenance requirements of museum facility, note discrepancies and safety concerns, and submit work orders for correction of problems.
You will work with the Director of Education and Curator to provide naval history training to members of the museums' volunteer corps.
You will organize and schedule facility use reservations (more than 300 per year) and volunteer schedules/calendars.
You will develop newsletters and monthly reports.
You will recruit, manage, and train museum volunteers, to include safety briefings.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.

Qualifications
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) assisting with conducting primary and secondary historical research; 2) assisting with the production of publications and editing of exhibit scripts ; 3) reviewing content for historical accuracy; 4) assisting with researching and writing educational presentations; 5) responding to inquiries and comments.
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-007) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) conducting primary and secondary historical research; 2) producing publications and editing exhibit scripts ; 3) reviewing content for historical accuracy; 4) researching and writing educational presentations; 5) responding to inquiries and comments.

Education
GS-07: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement
OR
Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education leading to a master's degree;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
Qualifying educational experience must include related coursework for the position. Related fields of study include art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled. GS-09: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
