This position is a Tractor Operator, WG-5705-6 working in Elk Grove, California for the R8-Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. You will operate boats for transporting personnel and equipment. You will also operate Tractors to perform planting, harvesting of crops, mowing, and hauling.

Duties
As a Tractor Operator your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operate tractors with attachments on level and/or rolling terrain.
Adjust equipment such as setting height of mower blades and depth of plow blades.
Perform minor repairs and adjustments to tractors and equipment (replace chains and belts, change oil, hydraulic fluid and filters, check batteries and perform safety inspections).
Operate and maintain motorized watercraft 10-22 feet long.
Use a variety of tools (maps, compass, GPS) to orient and navigate waterways.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement, as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
- Suitability for employment, as determined by background investigation.
- Driver’s License: This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties. Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver’s license throughout their employment in this position.
- Must have the ability to complete MOCC training for water craft operation within 6 months.
- Uniform: Official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform is required.
- Probationary Period: Selectees may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date will be considered.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.
