This position is located at US Mint, Protection Department - Fort Knox Police. As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (SERGEANT), you will be responsible for the enforcement of the Federal, State and local laws relating to the protection of human life, including the preservation of the civil rights of individuals.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (SERGEANT), you will:
Independently detail officers to posts and patrols and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established procedures and priorities.
Enforce all operational regulations used by the United States Mint Police to include police manuals, post orders, policies, procedures, and Mint Police directives.
Plan and distribute work assignments, review work in progress and revise work schedules as needed.
Resolve most personnel management problems and/or grievances, promoting morale among the ranks of all police personnel.
Assist in the formulation and development of personnel training needs, scheduling training based on manpower availability.
Qualifications

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience:
For the TR-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-08/GS-07grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
Performing work in a law enforcement environment that has provided knowledge in the areas of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order, protecting life and property, preservation of the peace, prevention, detection and investigation of crimes and the apprehension of violators.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines.
This position is designated as emergency essential.
The incumbent must be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies and under severe and austere conditions.
The incumbent may deploy for brief periods during a contingency event.
A one year probationary period may be required.
A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
Must successfully complete a background investigation.
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include equipment belt, body armor, riot gear, etc.
All applicants tentatively selected for this testing designated position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside [Lautenberg Amendment - 18 U.S.C. 922(g) (9)].
Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 90 days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.
Tattoos/Branding/Intentional Scarring- Full sleeve tattoos are permissible as long as they are not deemed offensive, racist or sexist. Visible tattoos, branding or intentional scarring, or body art on the head, face, neck or scalp are prohibited. Any visible tattoos that are offensive, extremist, indecent, racist or sexist are prohibited. Visible body piercings while on duty and/or in uniform, with the exception of agency approved earrings are prohibited.
Complete or have previously completed training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA.
