This position is located in the Employee Education and Development Department under the Organizational Excellence Service. This position reports directly to the Nurse Manager of the Employee Education and Development Department and is responsible for supporting and offering employee education and training activities. This position includes staff education, staff professional development, and mandatory/required training programming.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
Redi Program - 50%
Provides all administrative management for the RVAHCS REdi Programs. This includes but is not limited to: TMS Education Associate role to assign Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) curricula, confirm course completion, track compliance, and generates reports for the RVAHCS REdI Program Director and the facility. x Provides training to managers/supervisors and staff in RQI, troubleshooting course access issues and claiming completion cards.
Complete training as a BLS instructor, conduct classes, and serve as an independent training specialist/facilitator and administrator for REdi programs including Heart Code, Heart Saver, and RQI BLS and ACLS programs.
Facilitates the coordination and planning for the RVAHCS MOCK Code Program. Incumbent assures that all professional medical staff adhere with the timeliness of their certifications for each of these requirements.
Responsible for the creation, implementation, practice, and staff instruction of the simulation equipment decontamination procedures including technical skills and accurate documentation within simulation and the RVAHCS Resuscitation Education Initiative (REdI) local programs. Performs decontamination according to policies/procedures.
Simulation, Education and Training- 50%
Works in conjunction with the Simulation RN Coordinator to conduct simulation training and education in simulation environments in support of curricula designed by clinical experts and other subject matter experts.
Incumbent provides assistance to Education staff with presentations, flyers, posters banners, and displays to support educational activities, public relations and other management activities. This includes utilization of computer programs for graphics, desktop publishing, word processing, etc.
Independently conducts validity and reliability studies on original and modified curriculum design and/or full programs to measure usefulness, effectiveness, realism, etc. for best practice. Advocate for simulation technology and training opportunities throughout facility/community promotion, procurement of equipment, coordinates training and integration of simulation into education courses offered at the RVAHCS.
Incumbent provides Employee Education with support of all daily operations of Employee Education Programs.
Manages the nursing competency and skills education portal. Serves as the facility technical expert and provides training to service chiefs and designated program managers in developing course material such as learning analysis, clinical competencies, lesson plans, tests, student guides, practical exercises and training manuals. Provides training to program managers to create learners, edit or modify tasks and competencies to reflect current policy and procedures, assign tasks, and review for completeness.
Maintains security of education environment and equipment as well as simulation technology; able to install hardware equipment and software program, maintains warranties and cleans equipment, troubleshoots equipment failures and initiates work orders.
Manages Simulation Lab supplies and simulation equipment as evidenced by keeping an inventory of supplies/equipment, organizing, ordering, and restocking, and assessing needs of the end-users.
Incumbent is responsible for conducting annual equipment inventory management and serves as the Equipment Inventory List (EIL) Designee for Employee Education and Development Department. Maintains equipment history and recommends replacement when the equipment is too costly to maintain/repair or no longer supported by the vendor. Collaborates with Biomedical Engineering, Logistics, and equipment vendors to replace and/or maintain and repair equipment.
Recording simulation activities in TMS and serves as a back up to the TMS Learning manager as needed for other educational activities that need to be entered in TMS.
Prepares for education, training, and pre-simulation activities by preparing simulation technology and supplies, assisting in documentation of simulations, reviewing lab policies and procedures, obtaining consents, and setting up simulation control room or AV equipment.
Executes simulation by operating simulation control room and equipment, recording simulation activities, monitoring safety of participants, trouble-shooting equipment and participating in scenarios. x Performs post simulation activities such as debriefing playbacks, administer student and faculty evaluations, catalog recordings and return lab to pre-scenario conditions.
Performs duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 12/23/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5.
For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. GS-7, Superior Academic Achievement: This provision recognizes students who have achieved superior academic standing as evidenced by one of the three methods described below. It is to be used to determine eligibility for applicable GS-7 level positions of persons who have completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. In order to be creditable under this provision, superior academic achievement must have been gained in a curriculum related to the position. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED
