THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER, Position Description Number D0780000 and is part of the PA Field Maintenance Shop 5, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Duties

As a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER, WG-6912-07, you will inspect, receive, sort, count, and classifies hazardous materials such as explosives, toxic chemicals, flammables,gas cylinders, radioactive material, and hazardous waste. Prepare material for shipment, storage, and disposition. Contact generating activities, shipping agencies, andNational Guard (NG) environmental personnel to coordinate requirements of environmental policies and directives. Coordinate turn-in activities with the Defense Reutilization Marketing Office (DRMO) or contractors. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Field Maintenance Shop # 5 AOC 2: NG employees in the DCSG4 (This includes Combined Support Maintenance Shop - West, Director of Logistics, State Surface Maintenance Office FMS's 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 17, 24, 27, 28, 29, and 33, Combined Support Maintenance Shop - East and Unit Training Equipment Site) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes Traditional Airmen, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) Military Grades: WARRANT OFFICER: WO1 ENLISTED: E1-E9 Supervisor for this position is WO1 Varee GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by type, and skill in the use of hand tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
