This position is part of the Selective Service System, Office of the Director. The incumbent will be responsible for budget, contract and other administrative and clerical support to the agency Director, Deputy Director, and Chief of Staff.
Duties
Work directly impacts the effectiveness of the Director, Deputy Director, and Chief of Staff.
Resolves major administrative problems and plan the most significant administrative management aspects of a Federal Agency front office.
Arranges travel for the Director, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff, and develops itineraries, obtains reservations and accommodations, confirms itineraries with applicable officials and offices and submits travel vouchers and reports.
Reviews, identifies, and synopsizes correspondence, reports, publications, and other communications for the attention of the Director.
Arranges internal and external meetings for the Office of the Director, reviews, assembles, and provides materials for use by the executive team during speaking engagements.
Qualifications
At the GS-09 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include receiving correspondence and conducting the necessary follow-up to ensure timely completion; coordinating action items resulting from meetings and conferences; using automated systems and databases (i.e. Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, case management system) to schedule meetings, type letters and memos, create presentations, and maintaining case files for an office.
OR
B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., in Business Administration or similar field, if related.
OR
C. A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as defined above which equals 100%. For example, 6 months of specialized experience and 1 year and 6 months of graduate level education (i.e. 41 quarter hours or 27 semester hours of education. At the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include receiving correspondence and conducting the necessary follow-up to ensure actions are timely completion; coordinating action items resulting from meetings and conferences to ensure timely completion; Using automated systems and databases (i.e. Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, case management system) to schedule meetings, type letters and memos, create presentations, and maintaining case files for an office; and maintain an automated budget and analyzing financial reports to track expenditures.

B. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., in Business Administration or similar field, if related.
OR
C. A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as defined above which equals 100%. For example, 6 months of specialized experience and 2 year and 6 months of graduate level education. (i.e. 68 quarter hour?s or 45 semester hours of education. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
