This position is located in Petrified Forest National Park, in the Facility Management Division.
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately from January to December, and you will be in a non-pay status from late December to mid-January for the remainder of the year.
Duties
Petrified Forest National Park is located in northeastern Arizona 26 miles east of Holbrook, AZ. The Park has a concessions operation which includes a curio shop and restaurant. Beyond this, other services are not available in the Park. Some shopping opportunities exist in Holbrook. Greater shopping opportunities exist in Flagstaff, AZ (110 miles west) or Gallup, NM (70 miles east). Year-round recreational opportunities abound within a short commuting distance. Elementary, junior and senior high schools are located in Holbrook.
Performs progressively more complex duties related to the overall management of a youth program comprised of individuals and groups employed through agreements for short and long-term work commitments.
Schedules youth groups to ensure park is hosting as many youth groups as practical and feasible, considering funding availability, housing, project complexity, etc. Serves as field leader for activities and projects.
Develops and implements short and long-range plans and strategies in support of recruitment of organized youth programs that meet current and anticipated needs.
Identifies government and nongovernment funding sources for youth programs, and develops competitive requests for projects, operations, and grant funding.
Drafts general and other types of agreements for internal park review and coordinates all required reviews.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: organizing, planning, coordinating, and execution of youth, intern, volunteer, school/student programs, work or service projects; preparing, managing, and tracking budgets and funds for youth programs; assisting with writing reports, developing, supporting, presenting trainings and orientations for workshops; working directly with a wide range of people in planning, coordinating, executing group activities and assisting in recruiting volunteers and interns. This experience may have been gained through working in events management, public relations, teaching, leading work groups or related activities. EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education (such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work). NOTE: You must include transcripts.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work). NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts.
