You will serve as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Department of Navy, Bureau Medicine & Surgery Department of NAVMEDREADLOGCMD.
Duties
You will operate gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailers or truck and full trailer combinations.
You will operate vehicles which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds.
You will operate vehicles over roads and streets through traffic, within and between government installations, on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades.
You will direct and assist in the performance of loading and unloading cargo, shifting cargo about to spread the load for best support, and to ensure proper unloading sequence.
You will perform preoperational checks to ensure proper distribution of load, and security of cargo against pilferage, shifting, or damage due to inclement weather.
You will select the safest, most direct, and legally allowed route to be followed and identify alternative routes which may be used if emergency situations arise.
You will keep trip records or logs, showing time of departure, sequence of stops, time of return, trip mileage, fuel/oil consumption, etc.
You will report any defects in vehicle operations, accidents, damages, or traffic violations to supervisor on appropriate forms.
You will check cargo loaded and delivered against records of various types to assure accuracy and obtains signatures of individuals receiving cargo.
You will check presence and usability of assigned equipment such as tools, tire changing equipment, fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
You will be responsible for data entry related to Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) as required for implementation into program data management support or maintenance information systems.
You will prepare, initiate, and file Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) trip tickets.
You will enter trip and or maintenance data into maintenance information systems or hard copy records.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- You must possess and maintain a Class "A" Commercial Drivers' License with a T (trailer) endorsement and must provide a copy of your CDL with your application.
- You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
