You will serve as a Museum Technician (History) in the Museum Systems Operations Division of NATIONAL MUSEUM.

Duties

At the GS-06 level you will perform developmental duties as assigned. At the Full-Performance Level (GS-07) you will perform the below duties: You will assist in the development and implementation of all museum functions including exhibitions, special events, public programs, visitor inquiries, opening/closing of museum, and group visits. You will serve as a personal representative and telephone contact for the museum. You will provide general information and directions. You will coordinate public and non-public program special events in the museum. You will aid in the monitoring of the exhibit area to ensure that the artifacts are safe and accounted for.

Qualifications

GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Answering general inquiries on historical properties within the collection; 2) Providing support for museum events of public and non-public nature; 3) Assisting in monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure artifacts are safe; and 4) Performing simple tour guide duties and providing information to visitors. GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Providing technical or general information to visitors about the museum and its collections; 2) Coordinating public and non-public program special events in the museum; 3) Monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure that the artifacts are safe and accounted for; and 4) Supporting management with historical collections and the facility. Education

GS-06 & GS-07:
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed one full year of related graduate level education including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.

OR

Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in a related field of study including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
