Duties
Prepare complete sets of shop drawings from layouts or sketches.
Review drawings for conformance to established engineering standards, criteria, and project requirements.
Use databases to maintain engineering data and records.
Draft technical documentation for assigned technical engineering work assignments.
Verify accuracy of data and report work findings.
Extract data from a variety of sources and interprets the data with consideration of the source characteristics; recognizes and reports errors, inconsistencies, and other deficiencies in technical data.
Keep records, prepares reports, reviews findings, and makes recommendations and suggestions to higher graded technicians and supervisor.
Qualifications
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education and/or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.
To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service having demonstrated experience in two or more of the following duties: 1. Gathering and/or extracting data to prepare reports; 2. Reviewing invoices for payment; 3. Reviewing estimates for accuracy; 4. Entering data into a automated system and reviewing for accuracy.
To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in federal service having demonstrated experience in two or more of the following duties: 1. Performing technical analysis of construction schedules, proposals, submittals, modifications, or other contractor- provided documentation; 2. Drafting technical documentation for engineering work assignments; 3. Reviewing statements of work, construction schedules, and contractor payment requests; 4. Conducting pre-award activities to ensure contractor work meets requirements and standards; 5. Drafting drawings using design software; 6. Preparing change orders, modifications, or technical review of claims, and preparing cost estimates.

You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having one full year of graduate education. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

Education
This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-07 grade level. You must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not-qualified for the position.

An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
