Joining the Secret Service, Office of Technical Development and Applied Research, Technical Security Division or Aviation and Airspace Security Division will allow you to maintain the physical security of the institution through installation, maintenance and repairs of an array of electronic systems. Duties

The selectee will serve as a(n) Electronics Technician in the Office of Technical Development and Applied Research, Technical Security Division or Aviation and Airspace Security Division. Typical work assignments include: Testing components of new equipment for compatibility with existing systems prior to approval for use at a protective site. Using technical expertise to repair, troubleshoot, install, fabricate, test, sustain and maintain a wide range of highly specialized electronics including cameras, video management system, intrusion detection, access control equipment and counter unnamed aerial systems equipment. Developing substantial modifications to and/or preparing basic designs of electronics equipment, circuitry, and components. Providing training to end-users regarding the use, installation, maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment. This Electronics Technician position starts at a salary of $82,764.00,11, 11/12, with promotion potential to $128,956.00 12.

Qualifications

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $82,764.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-10 level performing the following duties: Maintaining all aspects of electric and communication systems to meet department requirements; Identifying issues arising from implementing new equipment within established electronic systems (i.e., video management, intrusion detection, access control electronic systems and counter unmanned aerial systems); and Utilizing corrective action procedures to ensure requirements are met for maintenance requests. You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level performing the following duties: Operating test equipment to diagnose malfunctions or performance issues of electronic systems; Implementing electronic systems and equipment (i.e., video management, intrusion detection, access control systems and counter unmanned aerial systems ) to meet technical and/or security requirements; and Preparing operation and maintenance guides for end-users. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
