This position is part of the Office of Management, Department of Energy. As a Food Services Specialist, you will serve as the senior authority and subject matter expert who is responsible for the operation of food services and in the execution of special events for the Office of the Secretary under the supervision of the Director of Protocol.

As a Food Services Specialist, you will:

- This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- This position is not included in a Bargaining Unit.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-9 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
1. Planning culinary activities to meet meal schedules.
2. Supervising food preparation and ensuring nutritional needs are met.
3. Establishing standards of sanitation, developing menus and evaluating food quality.
OR
EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M.; your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. For this position, this is defined as a degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts or a similarly related major. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: You may qualify on a combination of education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the educational requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
