About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
This position is with the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade located in Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
Duties
Implements new system hardware/software and develops standard operating procedures. Monitors the ongoing operation of the network via network monitoring tools such as Cisco Prime and ISE.
Receives network communications and related operating systems from various sources such as design centers and commercial vendors and maintains an inventory of all network hardware and software.
Completes operations, modifications, upgrades, and services for the network (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, wireless access points, virtual private networks, unsecure and secure Voice-Over- Internet-Protocol (VOIP) phones and VOIP switches) systems.
Performs all technical data networking tasks necessary to respond to higher headquarters data networking demands to include Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and 2nd Regional Cyber Center (2RCC) with respect to actions affecting
the installation’s Non-sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secure Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNET) connectivity.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- TDY 10% may be required.
- May be required to work overtime. Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- May be required to work shift work if the organization moves to a 24/7 operation.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a valid government vehicle operator’s license.
- May be required to carry a cellular telephone and maintain a working home telephone at all times.
- A physical examination is required lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoDM 8140.03, Cyberspace workforce qualification and management program,
- dated 15 Feb 2023 or updated version and/or additional guidance. IAW with DoDM 8140.03 Reference, this position is designated as an IAT II.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one-year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by Installing Information Technology (IT) equipment; Troubleshooting routine and non-routine system conditions; Implementing technical changes or enhancements for compliance with software systems.

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
