These located in Cape Lookout National Seashore, in the Resources and Protection Division. This is a Temporary Appointment not to exceed 1 year but can be extended 1 additional year for a total of 2 years, pending need of the Park and Budget. Duties

Collect appropriate fees the park recreation fee office while providing excellent customer service and refer issues to a higher graded employee or supervisor when necessary. Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or point-of-sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions. Perform opening and closing shift functions. Issue entrance receipts, permits, park passes in accordance with established guidelines. Process refunds as needed. Complete shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold, and all machine transactions from the shift, using shift accountability, receipt tapes, and register of voided transactions. Safeguard funds collected and accountable stock under the incumbent's control. Use automated reservation systems to process routine, simple payments, transactions, and reservations for campgrounds, tours, tickets, backcountry permits, Special Use permits, etc. Systems may include but are not limited to Recreation.gov and other automated platforms. Utilize fee program related technologies and equipment that include hardware, software and peripheral devices such as hand-held devices, computers, POS equipment, tablets, mobile phones, scanning devices, AFMs and reservation systems in accordance with established guidelines.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/13/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-0503-04 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-0503-03 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This general experience includes activities such as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled. Customer service experience, experience with point-of-sale systems, experience using typical office equipment and software such as spreadsheets and email. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two years of education above high school (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours). This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating number of credit hours in order to qualify based on education). If selected under education, you will need to provide your official transcripts before entrance on duty. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, 6 months of the general experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and 1 year of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education) as specified in B above, equals 100% of the total requirement. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating number of credit hours in order to qualify based on the combination option). The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
