The position is a primary member of a team responsible for providing operational support to Nursing Services, VA South Texas Veterans Health Care System.
Duties
The primary purpose of the position is to support the Deputy Nurse Executive, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Nurse Executive, Chief Nurse and Supervisory Management Analyst, in analyzing, evaluating, and improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of Nursing Services Outpatient and Inpatient processes, functions, activities, and programs; and to provide nurse managers with objective information to make decisions regarding administrative and program operations; and to make recommendations for modifying, revising, and implementing policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness of program operations, and to assist in resolving problems. This position reports directly to the Deputy Executive Assistant.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
-Performs tasks associated with operations and administration, ensures procedures are completed reliably and in a timely fashion, adheres to current policies and practices and maintains accurate records of all activities.
-Ensures the accuracy of the data being processed by performing routine and non-routine audits.
-Analyzes biweekly payroll records, supply utilization equipment procurement and depreciation, space and interior design requests, contracts and all other costs used in medical center functions.
-Analyzes existing automated and manual systems to determine the clinical and financial information presently available for processing. Identifies direct patient care procedures, labor mapping and determination of proper cost elements and relative value units (RVU) for each procedure.
-Coordinates data collection of workload statistics, quality measures, and credentialing and privileging tracking conducted by lower grade employees.
-Assists Supervisory Program Analyst and Service Supervisors with equipment as listed on the Equipment Inventory Lists, including the yearly physical inventory of equipment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/11/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of standardized administrative practices and procedures; Knowledge of established management principles, pertinent administrative regulations, and staffing guidelines; Skill in applying fact-finding and work measurement techniques; Auditing and analysis of various reports.

Physical Requirements: The work can be sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Travel to and from wards, clinics, and offices for interviews and consultations are often necessary.
