About the Position: This position is located in the Dam Safety Production Center H & H and Technical Support Division, Huntington, WV
Duties
Assist engineering staff in the development of complex preliminary and final designs for terrain and structural engineering features of navigation and flood control projects, local flood protection (including flood proofing), and recreation projects.
Using information in the form of sketches, notes, or verbal instructions from engineers the incumbent will assemble and integrate pertinent information into the work assignment.
Develop advanced 3-dimensional models of structural features using CADD software and assists others in using these models for plan presentation.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities, operating characteristics, and functions of a variety of software packages for the CADD system
Using office automation software, assist in the preparation of support documents relating to technical studies or specification and design submissions using drafts of preliminary designs.
Convert various engineering and technical data and measurements into forms usable by engineers through use of computer aided Design and Drafting (CADD).

For GS-5: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reads reviewing and performing proofreading or quality control of data in at least one type of software system; reviewing and editing documents, utilizing basic features of spreadsheets for various tracking purposes, utilizing basic features of computer software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, and Revit 3D to gather data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
For GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience whichexperience using standard drafting techniques ; experience using computer software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Revit 3D or other drafting systems to produce or update engineering drawings under supervision This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
For GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing basic engineering computations, data collection, presentation, and analysis; and experience using software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD,and Revit 3D to update technical drawings from sketches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education
