The Teller will serve as a designated principles agent for the Office of Chief, Fiscal Service, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH. The Teller is responsible for the proper disbursement and collections of public and private funds, in accordance with regulations of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the US Treasury.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Agent Cashier:
Receives and disseminates all Treasury Department communications to alternate cashier as appropriate.
Receives and disburses funds to/from several different appropriations and funds as a simultaneous operation. Issues receipts as appropriate, for transportation of cash and necessities.
Interprets and apply guidelines and regulations pertaining to counterfeit currency, negotiability rules, and applicable documentation.
Scrutinizes and pays attention to detail to ensure that only the proper transactions are processed accurately and timely.
Negotiates instruments in accordance with Treasury Manual for Cashiers.
Maintains a record of all transactions for an audit trail.
Remains competent in the requirements for the negotiability of instruments and an understanding and recognition of counterfeit currency.
Issues pre-numbered accountable receipts both manually and electronically for eachautomated system on collections received.
Determines the purpose of the remittance and the correctness of the accounting symbols to which remittance will be deposited.
Executes the appropriate schedules of collection forms that will accompany the funds to the Federal Reserve Bank, for protection under the Government Losses and Shipment Act.
Offsets bills from Tricare, ChampVA, Pharmacy Co-pays, etc.
Audits, reconciles, and replenishes the funds of the alternate cashier.
Resolves informal complaints from employees and veterans in most cases independently.
Auditing:
Audits numerous beneficiary travel vouchers and selecting the correct payments in the beneficiary travel database.
Ensures correctness of amounts, dates, purchase order numbers, account numbers and signatures. Works with Patient Business Service and Accounting if discrepancies are found.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-6: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience having the skills in applying systematic procedures and techniques in the management and function of the accountable cashier operations; understands the theory and principles of cash management and organizational functions and procedures common to cash management administrative practices; comprehends cash management fiscal principles, pertinent manual instructions, policy processes, procedures, and regulations are required to perform all financial aspects of the position; the agency's automated data processing cashier system, organizational structure and operations are required; ability to interpret Agency and Treasury Department guidelines and directives, cash management rules and regulations including the ability to integrate cash management with accounting and budgetary processes and having wide variety of interrelated steps and procedures or processes required to assemble, review, and maintain cashier transactions (e.g., reconciling accounts involving subdivision, varied adjustments to accounts, resolving problems in balancing accounts, adjusting discrepancies, preparing replenishments, preparing deposit tickets and preparing reports).

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary although some slight physical effort may be required.
