This position is located in Management Directorate, Office of Security & Integrity, threat Management Division, Threat Operations Branch.. As a Security Specialist, you will you will serve as a Senior Watch Officer within the Office of Security and Integrity, Threat Management Division, Command Center Section, analyzing, producing, and disseminating security and operations/watch center information and reports within USCIS and DHS..

Duties

Serves as a Senior Watch Officer managing the processes in the USCIS Command Center and the flow of information from watch officers , USCIS Offices, federal operations centers, state and local agencies. Ensures the watch has adequate coverage and prioritizes tasks and efforts, ensuring they are completed during the watch. Acts as the senior federal official on the watch floor by overseeing and managing all aspects of each duty shift from managing incidents and facilitating communications to ensuring the implementation, management, and execution of security programs. Serves as the first point of contact for emergent or critical incidents until the proper leadership personnel have responded and are positioned to make decisions. Ensures records and information are handled and kept consistent with standards, policies, and procedures, and information is collected, protected, and retained in an accessible form for quick recall and long-term use. Collaborates with the Section Chief with policy and procedure reviews associated with day-to-day C2 operations. Plans, organizes, and directs team study and task force efforts across organizational lines to identify new or far-reaching program requirements, develop long-range plans, and resolve complex and unusual security issues using innovative solutions.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/13/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/13/2024. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Independently resolving broad and complex security problems; Leading projects involving the evaluation of security programs and operations; Serve as an intake officer for Significant Incident Reports received by the command center; Developing and implementing policy, standards, and procedures for security programs.
