You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the Navy Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAS PENSACOLA.

Duties

You will prepare policy guidance in response to firefighter program related executive orders, public law, regulations, and agency requirements. You will determine measures to reduce or eliminate the potential for fire or explosion. You will verify personnel use the correct personal protection equipment during firefighting incidents to ensure safety. You will identify defects of fire protection systems (e.g., equipment, clothing) to maintain operational efficiency. You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident. You will explain work requirements to fire inspectors and other employees related to new or changed procedures.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical expertise, advice, and supervision in fire protection efforts; 2) Inspecting facilities and structures for fire hazards; 3) Conducting training on fire safety practice and procedures. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Operations, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Instructor I. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
