You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Branch of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will visit work sites to gain further information pertaining to the scope of work, amount and type of labor, material required, and anticipated work problems.
You will apply comprehensive knowledge of technical engineering principles, building codes, and safety regulations.
You will review and recommend approval of shop drawings, manufacturer’s data and materials for acceptance from contractors.
You will utilize computers and software systems to prepare specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
You will brief sponsors, contractors and team members to convey program requirements.

- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You may be designated as ALPHA personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and/or after special emergency situations or periods of an increased security threat.
- This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- You may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Visiting work sites to gain further information pertaining to the scope of work, amount and type of labor, material required, and anticipated work problems; 2) Reviewing and recommending approval of shop drawings, manufacturer's data and materials for acceptance from contractors; 3) Utilizing computers and software systems to prepare specifications, cost estimates, and schedules; 4) Participating in acquisition planning conferences with staff offices, contract administrators, contract specialist and customer activities on complex jobs.
