This position is located in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, in the Interpretation Division.
This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year, and can be extended up to 5 years.
Duties
Major Duties of this position include:
Provide informational, interpretive, and general services to park visitors in English and Spanish.
Present interpretive talks and walks; interpreting cultural, natural, and historic concepts and features in English and in Spanish.
Assists the on-site supervisor with daily operations by ensuring proper execution of front desk operations through training, mentoring and coaching seasonal employees, interns and volunteers.
Tracks and reports visitor use statistics using hand counters, and electronic door and road counters.
Collects federal fees adhering to law and policy as described in RM22 and the ORPI Fee Manual.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service(obtained in either the public or private sectors) that includes performing law enforcement duties for the protection, conservation, use, and management of natural and/or cultural resources in park areas or similar operations, which involved the application of law enforcement authorities and procedures to protect visitors and resources. The primary purpose of this position is to provide informational, interpretive, and general services to park visitors. The work involves presenting interpretive talks and walks; interpreting cultural, natural, and historic concepts and features; providing information and orientation and providing miscellaneous services to visitors. In addition, employee assists the on-site supervisor with daily operations by ensuring proper execution of front desk operations through training, mentoring and coaching seasonal employees, interns and volunteers.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.
