Work includes planning the visual aspects of such visual materials as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, models, slides, and charts used in books, magazine, pamphlets, exhibits, live or video recorded speeches or lectures, and other means of communication such as web content where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are predetermined. Visual information is most commonly communicated by means of printed material, exhibits and oral presentations.
Duties
MAJOR DUTIES:
Design interpretive and informational wayside exhibits for the park using Adobe Creative Suite or Creative Cloud programs including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Work includes gathering the visual aspects of wayside exhibits including illustrations, maps, graphs, charts and photographs.
The position follows nationally established guidelines and industry standards for exhibit media, including graphic identity and accessibility.
Creating custom original artwork to supplement graphics when available recourses are not adequate.
Presenting subject matter information in a visual form that will convey the intended message to, or have the desired effect on, the intended audience.
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately 12/28-12/15, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/08/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
To qualify for this position at the GS-9 grade level, you must possess one of the following basic requirements/minimum qualifications by close of the announcement. Failure to meet the basic requirement will result in disqualification.
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: compiling, correlating and consolidating data and estimates for such items as personnel salaries and expenses, and program funding that link to organizational performance goals and measures. Qualifying specialized experience is experience that demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include supporting a public outreach through multi-media projects, planning the preparation of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other artwork, maps, slides, and other kids of visual material for use in communication information through visual means. Planning the preparation and use of visual aspects of printed materials such as books, handouts, bulletins, etc. for use in communicating information through visual means; producing webpages and other visual materials using design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere); Planning, coordinating, publicizing and managing special events including distributing information related to all visual media projects and events. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master's OR equivalent graduate degree OR at least have two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LLB or JD, it related. Master's degree must be in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. COMBINATION: A quantity of specialized experience and graduate or higher-level education of the type described above that when combined, the total percentage equals at least 100 to qualify for the position. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of the first year maybe combined with experience to qualify applicants for positions at the GS-09 grade. PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must submit a copy of your transcripts (A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
